Bold Optimism | The Complete Pantone Spring 2019 Color Palette

It feels like kismet.
For years, we’ve been devoted followers of Pantone, the world’s foremost color matching system. Pantone’s staff diligently forecasts color trends, palettes and seasonal color projections for the design industry – from industrial design to textiles, from the runway to home design, Pantone helps guide the ship of international design from season to season.
When we first saw the Pantone Fashion Color Trend Report for Spring 2019, two things made us feel like the universe was speaking to us:
- It’s our favorite color palette of the last five years; and
- The Report was written by Laurie Pressman… who is a recent client of Peter Salerno Inc., our parent company (and the most award-winning North American kitchen and bath design firm since 2000).
We can’t stress enough – we had no idea of the connection until a recent meeting with Peter Salerno and his staff. Needless to say, we’re more compelled than ever to gush over the Pantone Spring 2019 color palette and Fashion Color Trend Report.
Led by the Pantone 2019 Color of the Year, Living Coral, this collection is all about a sunny disposition. (Living Coral itself has been described as “a big hug”.) But the optimism and inviting nature conveyed by the Pantone Spring 2019 color palette doesn’t stop at Living Coral. This season’s collection is at once a love letter to the recent past and a bright statement on the future; a melange of trends past and present that leaves us feeling very good about the 2019 year in design.
An avid Pantone follower’s first glimpse at the Spring 2019 collection brings one comment: “Wow, this is a warmer collection than typical springs!” (And we love it.) While past Spring color palettes have kept warm colors somewhat muted – focusing on pastels and blushing shades – the Pantone Spring 2019 report projects some hot, hot shades. There’s nothing shrinking about colors like Turmeric, Fiesta and Aspen Gold. Pink Peacock, in particular, is turning heads on the runway, in textiles, and in industrial design.
The nod towards 2017 Color of the Year Greenery and other earth tones is quite evident – see the green tones Pepper Stem and Terrarium Moss. Staying with the theme of earth tones, perhaps the least “eye-catching” of the collection may prove the most versatile and useful in home design in 2019. Brown Granite is a dusky, dark neutral that we instantly fell in love with, with its notes of coffee and dark-grain wood.
Joining Brown Granite in the 4-tone Spring 2019 Neutrals portion of the color palette are 2 inviting off-whites, Soybean and Sweet Corn, and a rather enticing dark blue named Eclipse.
Here’s a look at the entire Pantone Spring 2019 color collection, from the Fashion Color Trend Report by Laurie Pressman.
