Super Bowl 53 | Rams vs. Patriots Official Pantone Team Colors

Super Bowl 53 | Rams vs. Patriots Official Pantone Team Colors

Don’t be that one fan at your Super Bowl party with knock-off looking gear. You don’t HAVE to spend tons of money on official team gear, team decor and team accessories to look like a true fan of the New England Patriots or Los Angeles Rams. What you DO need is a guide to the official Pantone team colors of each Super Bowl 53 team.

If you’re unfamiliar with Pantone – it’s the world’s foremost authority on color, and the creator of the best color matching system available. We think Pantone is absolutely essential when it comes to color design. That extends past home design to party decor, accessories, clothing and more – which couldn’t be more applicable to Super Bowl 53 season!

Super Bowl 53 features the AFC Champion New England Patriots and the NFC Champion Los Angeles Rams. For the Patriots, it’s another shot at glory in what has become perhaps the most dominant stretch by a single NFL franchise in league history. For the Rams, it’s an unexpectedly-quick rise to prominence for a team that just changed hometowns and was perhaps expected to be a year away from greatness.

Whether you’re a fan of Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the Patriots, or Sean McVay, Jared Goff and the Rams, you need to be looking your best on Super Bowl Sunday. And that means knowing exactly what colors (based on Pantone color matching and HTML codes) represent your favorite team in Super Bowl 53.

Here are the official team colors – AND “retro” throwback colors – for the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots, just in time for Super Bowl 53!

Peter Salerno Cookbook Preview: Eight Pasta Dishes That Will Wow You

Peter Salerno Cookbook Preview: Eight Pasta Dishes That Will Wow You

We recently reported about a highly anticipated series of cookbooks forthcoming from Peter Salerno, CMKBD. (Peter is the owner and founder of Peter Salerno Inc., the most award-winning custom kitchen and bath design firm of the 21st century – and an exceptional chef!)

“The response was so overwhelming I had no choice but to start putting together recipes immediately, so here we are!” Peter recently explained to us in a phone interview.

Lobster ravioli with Grand Marnier sauce, all made from scratch - to appear in Peter Salerno's pasta cookbook.
Lobster ravioli with Grand Marnier sauce, all made from scratch – to appear in Peter Salerno’s pasta cookbook.

Earlier this week, Peter Salerno put out a survey on his Facebook account, asking friends and followers to vote on 8 different homemade pasta dishes for his cookbook. The top 4 dishes in the vote were guaranteed to make the cookbook. There was only one problem…

“The trouble was, everybody kept saying, ‘Put all of them in!'” Peter continued. “So we’re going to publish all eight recipes.”

As a result, Peter is now hard at work refining and perfecting all 8 pasta recipes, based on Sicilian tradition, family secrets, and his travels to fine dining establishments, conversations with world-class chefs, and attending CIA culinary classes.

As if THAT wasn’t enough to get you drooling, Peter also announced a partnership with David Hamburger of Acker, Merrall & Condit, wine merchants of New York City since 1820. David is a top wine educator, and will be working closely with Peter Salerno to create exceptional wine pairings for each of these pasta dishes!

In no particular order, here are 8 pasta dishes that will appear in Peter Salerno’s debut pasta cookbook:

  • Lobster ravioli with a Grand Marnier cream sauce (the winner of the vote)
  • Fettuccine with a wild mushroom and cream sauce, topped with black truffles (2nd place in the vote)
  • Rigatoni with a puttanesca sauce
  • Cavatelli with broccoli rabe and sausage
  • Penne alla Norma (eggplant, tomato, basil)
  • Pappardelle al Cinghiale (wild boar sauce)
  • Fettuccine with bolognese and sweet peas
  • Lobster, macaroni and 3 Italian cheeses

The pasta cookbook will only be the first in a series of installments from Peter Salerno, who states that pasta felt like the most organic place to start the series.

“I wanted to make sure each of the pasta dishes we presented was unique,” Peter explained. “There will be classics like Cavatelli with broccoli rabe and sausage, and then a bit more exotic offerings like Pappardelle with Cinghiale, with is a wild boar sauce.”

Peter Salerno creates homemade pasta with his granddaughter, Jesse.

For Peter Salerno, one of the real joys of creating pasta dishes is the ability to do so with his family. In the beautiful moment captured above, Peter Salerno rolls out homemade fettuccine with his granddaughter Jesse. It’s part of the Salerno family tradition, passing down old-world Sicilian traditions and recipes through generations.

Part of Peter’s appeal as a custom kitchen designer is his expertise in actually using kitchen design to its fullest. For over two decades, professional chefs and avid home cooks have trusted Peter Salerno Inc. to create state-of-the-art kitchen designs that not only look beautiful, but function as a world-class, operational kitchen.

So, we’re curious – which of the eight pasta dishes listed above sounds most appetizing to you? Which one are you most excited to see appear in Peter Salerno’s forthcoming cookbook? Let us know in the comments below!

Bold Optimism: The full Pantone Spring 2019 color palette and our reactions.

It feels like kismet.

For years, we’ve been devoted followers of Pantone, the world’s foremost color matching system. Pantone’s staff diligently forecasts color trends, palettes and seasonal color projections for the design industry – from industrial design to textiles, from the runway to home design, Pantone helps guide the ship of international design from season to season.

When we first saw the Pantone Fashion Color Trend Report for Spring 2019, two things made us feel like the universe was speaking to us:

  1. It’s our favorite color palette of the last five years; and
  2. The Report was written by Laurie Pressman… who is a recent client of Peter Salerno Inc., our parent company (and the most award-winning North American kitchen and bath design firm since 2000).

We can’t stress enough – we had no idea of the connection until a recent meeting with Peter Salerno and his staff. Needless to say, we’re more compelled than ever to gush over the Pantone Spring 2019 color palette and Fashion Color Trend Report.

Led by the Pantone 2019 Color of the Year, Living Coral, this collection is all about a sunny disposition. (Living Coral itself has been described as “a big hug”.) But the optimism and inviting nature conveyed by the Pantone Spring 2019 color palette doesn’t stop at Living Coral. This season’s collection is at once a love letter to the recent past and a bright statement on the future; a melange of trends past and present that leaves us feeling very good about the 2019 year in design.

An avid Pantone follower’s first glimpse at the Spring 2019 collection brings one comment: “Wow, this is a warmer collection than typical springs!” (And we love it.) While past Spring color palettes have kept warm colors somewhat muted – focusing on pastels and blushing shades – the Pantone Spring 2019 report projects some hot, hot shades. There’s nothing shrinking about colors like Turmeric, Fiesta and Aspen Gold. Pink Peacock, in particular, is turning heads on the runway, in textiles, and in industrial design.

The nod towards 2017 Color of the Year Greenery and other earth tones is quite evident – see the green tones Pepper Stem and Terrarium Moss. Staying with the theme of earth tones, perhaps the least “eye-catching” of the collection may prove the most versatile and useful in home design in 2019. Brown Granite is a dusky, dark neutral that we instantly fell in love with, with its notes of coffee and dark-grain wood.

Joining Brown Granite in the 4-tone Spring 2019 Neutrals portion of the color palette are 2 inviting off-whites, Soybean and Sweet Corn, and a rather enticing dark blue named Eclipse.

Here’s a look at the entire Pantone Spring 2019 color collection, from the Fashion Color Trend Report by Laurie Pressman.

Pantone Promises a Bright, Colorful 2019: A Sneak Peek at Spring Colors

Pantone Promises a Bright, Colorful 2019: A Sneak Peek at Spring Colors

My goodness, do we love the Pantone Spring 2019 color collection. Bright, colorful and cheerful, Pantone’s selections for spring (and summer) 2019 signal warmth, optimism, and the invitation to be good to others.

Pantone Spring 2019 colors are bright and beautiful.
Pantone Spring 2019 colors are bright and beautiful.

Led by the Pantone 2019 Color of the Year, Living Coral, this collection is all about a sunny disposition. (Living Coral itself has been described as “a big hug”.) The entire Pantone Spring 2019 collection consists of 12 core colors and a neutral palette, but we’ve narrowed our ‘sneak peek’ down to our 5 favorites.

We attempted to provide a cross-section of warm, cool and neutral tones that all bring something unique to the table – especially in terms of their utility in kitchen design and bath design. Enjoy!

Our Favorite Pantone Spring 2019 Colors: A Sneak Peek

1. Living Coral (Pantone 2019 Color of the Year)
We’ve already covered Living Coral, the Pantone 2019 Color of the Year. This reddish-orange tone reminds us (of course) of ocean coral, but also of the brightest peach in a farmer’s market. Rich, crisp and forward, Living Coral is an energetic boost to the 2019 color palette.

Living Coral, Pantone 16-1546, Pantone Color of the Year

2. Mango Mojito (Pantone 15-0960)

Mango Mojito is the perfect marriage of spicy orange and bright yellow. The result is a color that’s not “too hot” for kitchen design. Used sparingly, Mango Mojito instantly livens up any room’s decor, accessories and wall color schemes.

Mango Mojito, Pantone 15-0960

3. Princess Blue (Pantone 19-4150)

Princess Blue is strong. And that’s a wonderful thing. Perfect as a ‘leading’ shade in vivid color schemes, nautical themes, and paired with cool neutrals, Princess Blue is a bold, beautiful winner.

Princess Blue, Pantone 19-4150

4. Pepper Stem (Pantone 17-0542)

An energetic green, Pepper Stem follows in the footsteps of Greenery, the 2017 Pantone Color of the Year. We love the leafy, natural feel of Pepper Stem. It’s a “garden” green; use it in areas where you plan to incorporate floral arrangements, succulents, hanging plants or neutral browns.

Pepper Stem, Pantone 17-0542

5. Soybean (Pantone 13-0919)

Our Pantone Spring 2019 Neutrals selection, Soybean, is the warmest neutral you’re going to find. We’re instantly attracted to Soybean’s rich, creamy tone, and how complimentary it can be in almost any color scheme imaginable for your kitchen design or bath design. Use Soybean to ‘warm up’ cooler blues and greens, or as a neutral that’s bold enough to match hot colors.

Soybean, Pantone 03-0919

Which of these five Pantone Spring 2019 colors is YOUR favorite? Let us know in the comments below – let’s start a conversation!

Our Favorite Nutella Hot Chocolate Recipe

From Peter Salerno’s Kitchen: Nutella Hot Chocolate Recipe

It’s been bitterly cold in the Northeast lately, which means that the team at Peter Salerno Inc. needs as many ways to keep warm as possible – both at home and at their award-winning design showroom!

We don’t have to tell you how sweet and comforting a mug of hot chocolate is. And we could go on for days about how delicious Nutella is. But when we found out that A Beautiful Mess put the two together… well, our winter got a lot warmer.

Their recipe for Nutella Hot Chocolate is absolutely spectacular. It’s a great blend of sweet and a little salty, rich and smooth. And it’s the perfect, decadent way to treat yourself on a cold winter day – try it!

From Peter Salerno’s Kitchen: Nutella Hot Chocolate Recipe (courtesy of A Beautiful Mess):

1/4 cup Nutella

fresh whipped cream (optional)

Preparation

  1. Add your milk to a small pot and heat the milk over low-medium heat until warm (don’t let the milk boil; just warm it slowly).

  3. Add the cinnamon and salt, and stir until combined.
  4. Pour into mug and garnish with a dollop of whipped cream.
