WATCH: Peter Salerno’s Kitchen + Bath Design Panel, KBIS 2020

KBIS 2020 is in full swing, and we’d love to share some of the NKBA & KBIS’ exclusive footage of a panel from Day 1!

“How to Win a Design Competition” was moderated by our very own Peter Salerno, CMKBD – owner of Peter Salerno Inc. and winner of the most national kitchen and bath design awards since 2001.

Originally filmed on Day 1 of the 2020 Kitchen + Bath Industry Showcase (KBIS 2020, presented by the NKBA) in Las Vegas, the panel engages in frank, insightful banter about what makes a great awards submission, and how to increase your odds of being noticed.

From the official KBIS 2020 website:

The KBISNeXT Stage hosts design experts, celebrity hosts and young professionals, all sharing insights into the industry’s need-to-know topics to educate, inspire and connect members of the kitchen and bath industry.

This year’s programming will include more than 15 programs, including four awards events, and 50+ industry-leading voices and personalities. This year’s topic will range from health and wellness, resilient design, and business development.

When Peter Salerno Inc. teamed up with Stratta, the Tile Boutique to create a transitional bath design they called ‘Simple Tranquility’, Peter knew they were creating something special.

The beautiful transitional bathroom was awarded 2nd place nationally by Signature Kitchens and Baths magazine. It was quite an honor (in a season full of them) for Peter Salerno and his team, who also took home two national kitchen design awards from the NKBA during the 2015 KBIS convention in Las Vegas.

‘Simple Tranquility’ is a transitional bathroom in Bergen County, NJ. The cabinets are walnut with an espresso stain from Peter Salerno Inc’s coveted “Mastro Rosolino” (TM) line of cabinets.

The tops are marble from Stone Surfaces in East Rutherford, NJ. The backsplash is glass and porcelain, and the floor is marble tile by Stratta – The Tile Boutique , Wyckoff, NJ. The hardware is polished stainless from Hardware Designs in Fairfield, NJ. All the fixtures and fittings also came from Hardware Designs, while the sconces and chandelier came from Capitol Lighting in Paramus, NJ.

This gorgeous transitional bath design was truly a team effort, and Peter Salerno certainly shares this award with all parties involved – Stratta, Stone Surfaces, Hardware Designs, Capitol Lighting, and his own team at Peter Salerno Inc.

But the people to truly be congratulated are the owners of this nationally award-winning bathroom – it was their project, their space, and their dreams that made this room a reality!

5 Great Reasons to Attend KBIS 2020 in Las Vegas

We don’t need to tell you that KBIS is the pre-eminent home design conference and convention of the year. Each year, the NKBA’s Kitchen & Bath Industry Showcase (KBIS) shatters expectations – and attendance records – for the kitchen and bath design industry, raising the bar of ingenuity, inventiveness and innovation to new heights.

The NKBA presents KBIS 2020: the Kitchen and Bath Industry Showcase from Las Vegas.

This year, KBIS 2020 will take place from January 21-23, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada. KBIS 2020’s theme, “Where Design Is Moving”, is to be taken as a statement and an invitation – after all, KBIS is the best place to watch the design industry in motion as it rockets into the future.

You already know KBIS 2020 brings together world-class design innovation, an unparalleled floor of exhibitors, tremendous entertainment and seminars with kitchen and bath design experts. But why should you attend THIS year’s KBIS 2020? What makes this incarnation of the design conference so special?

Here are 5 spectacular reasons to attend KBIS 2020 in Las Vegas.

KBIS 2020 takes place from January 21-23, 2020, in Las Vegas.

5 Reasons to Attend KBIS 2020 in Las Vegas

1. The 1st Ever NKBA Renovation Angel Luxury Recycling Kitchen Awards.

Ingenuity and environmentalism collide as KBIS 2020 hosts the first-ever NKBA Renovation Angel Luxury Recycling Kitchen Awards. In October 2019, the NKBA and Renovation Angel announced the awards:

NKBA is proud to introduce the Luxury Kitchen Recycling Awards, in partnership with  Renovation Angel, a luxury kitchen recycling company, to recognize these efforts in the kitchen universe. The inaugural awards will be presented at KBIS 2020, on the KBIS NeXT Stage, Jan. 22 in Las Vegas.

The awards will acknowledge kitchen designers, architects, interior designers, showrooms and manufacturers who have rescued one or more kitchens for recycling, reuse and resale or donation.

It’s a wonderful step taken by all parties involved. The Awards will be given out January 22, 2020, at 11:00 a.m.

2. The Stellar 2020 State of the Industry Panel.

What a lineup KBIS has compiled for the KBIS 2020 State of the Industry. The panel will be moderated by Fox Business anchor Melissa Francis and cover critical industry topics, ranging from skilled labor to tariffs to economic shifts. Joining Melissa Francis will be some of the industry’s pre-eminent voices:

  • Adam Sandow, Chairman and CEO of Sandow Media;
  • Katty Pien, CMO of LIXIL Americas;
  • Randy Warner, President of Dacor; and
  • Mikael Akerberg, Chairman and CEO of Nobilia North America.

3. The Innovative Showroom Awards.

The Innovative Showroom Awards panel features a bevy of past winners and notaries, including Peter Salerno, CMKBD (of Peter Salerno Inc.). Salerno won the award in 2015 for his Wyckoff, NJ, showroom; an award he stated was “an honor” to win. Salerno and other notable kitchen and bath designers will help judge this year’s entrants.

4. The KBIS Edit Boutique.

This invitation-only space is a boutique love letter to niche producers. Artisans, small-batch producers, exclusive luxury brands and bespoke manufacturers will display their kitchen and bath wares to the lucky few who enter the KBIS Edit Boutique.

5. The Doobie Brothers.

Yes, you read that right. What good is the work if you can’t celebrate with some play at the end? The remarkable, legendary Doobie Brothers will bring their bluesy classic rock hits to the IBS Closing Concert that rounds out KBIS 2020 on January 23rd at 5 p.m. in the Paradise Event Center.

A Closer Look at Our Featured 2017 Summer Kitchen Design

At Design Your Lifestyle, we’re proud to feature an outstanding kitchen or bath design for each season. Our Summer 2017 featured design (in the header of our page) is a gorgeous transitional kitchen design by Peter Salerno Inc. – the most award-winning North American custom kitchen and bath design of the 21st century.

“Farm Meets City Sleek” is a lustrous transitional kitchen that manages to combine rustic charm with uptown chic. One’s first glance at this transitional kitchen design is bathed in white and ambient light, a nod to the recent kitchen design trend where whites and neutrals are used as the primary focus of the overall color design scheme. From the custom Maestro Rosolino cabinetry (a trademark of Peter Salerno Inc. design) to the kitchen island base, this kitchen is adorned with white.

Notes of gray and neutral complement the design, through the custom range hood and counter to the island countertop and wood flooring. One of our favorite aspects of this kitchen design is the the 2×8 mixed metal and glass mosaic backsplash over the range, created by the team at Stratta, the Tile Boutique.

KBIS 2017: Photo Review of An Amazing Week in Design! [Part 1 of 2]

Exclusive Photos from the KBIS 2017 Conference in Orlando!

Every year, the annual KBIS conference is THE foremost week of design in North America, and the 2017 KBIS conference was no exception. From January 10-12, 2017, KBIS 2017 took over Orlando with stellar design exhibits, contests, seminars and the largest array of design industry exhibitors North America will see all year.

Thanks to our friends at Peter Salerno Inc. (winners of more North American design awards than anyone since 2002, and NKBA members), we’re able to bring you exclusive photographs from INSIDE the KBIS 2017 Convention!

KBIS 2017: The KBIS NeXT Stage

A major highlight of this year’s conference was the KBIS NeXT Stage, presented by the NKBA and sponsored by HomeAdvisor. The KBIS NeXT Stage showcased the industry’s latest trends and insights shared by leading kitchen and bath experts.

One of KBIS NeXT’s prominent features was the NKBA 30 Under 30 presentation, featuring a crop of outstanding home, kitchen, and bath design professionals under 30 from across North America. By the way – congratulations to Peter Salerno Inc.’s Anthony Michael Salerno for being one of this year’s 30 Under 30!

Anthony’s selection as a 30 Under 30 recipient gave us incredible access (and photos) to the KBIS NeXT Stage, so we can thank him for some of the awesome photos you see here!

KBIS 2017: Appliance Trends, La Cornue + Rangecraft

We also LOVE the new appliance trends at KBIS 2017 – most notably, what La Cornue had to offer. The featured color of La Cornue range on the KBIS Conference floor was a true jaw-dropper and the talk of many design exhibitors and attendees.

The stunning La Cornue display range at the KBIS 2017 Conference.
The stunning La Cornue display range at the KBIS 2017 Conference.

It was also great to see Rangecraft featured so prominently. Makers of fine custom range hoods from a diverse assortment of materials, Rangecraft is (in our opinion) an “IT” company to watch in 2017. If you love the concept of a custom range hood (especially stainless steel) in your home or professional kitchen, Rangecraft is certainly a brand to keep in mind.

If you love the photos you see featured in this article and want even more – fear not! We’ll be back in just a few short days with Part 2 of our Photo Review of KBIS 2017!
