Farm Meets City Sleek | 3rd Anniversary of Summer Kitchen Design Masterpiece

At Design Your Lifestyle, we’re proud to feature an outstanding kitchen or bath design for each season. Our Summer 2017 featured design was a gorgeous transitional kitchen design by Peter Salerno Inc. – the most award-winning North American custom kitchen and bath design of the 21st century. As the summer of 2020 blazes on, we’d love to take a look back at one of our favorite Peter Salerno Inc. kitchen designs of the last 5 years.

“Farm Meets City Sleek” is a lustrous transitional kitchen that manages to combine rustic charm with uptown chic. One’s first glance at this transitional kitchen design is bathed in white and ambient light, a nod to the recent kitchen design trend where whites and neutrals are used as the primary focus of the overall color design scheme. From the custom Maestro Rosolino cabinetry (a trademark of Peter Salerno Inc. design) to the kitchen island base, this kitchen is adorned with white.

Notes of gray and neutral complement the design, through the custom range hood and counter to the island countertop and wood flooring. One of our favorite aspects of this kitchen design is the the 2×8 mixed metal and glass mosaic backsplash over the range, created by the team at Stratta, the Tile Boutique.

In our first edition of the Kitchen Design Spotlight Series, Design Your Lifestyle featured a traditional kitchen with some well-placed modern aesthetic features called “The Angles Are In the Details”.

Our second Kitchen Design Spotlight Series piece focuses on a spectacular kitchen design photo gallery that manages to combine rustic charm with uptown chic. “Farm Meets City Sleek” is a lustrous transitional kitchen designed by the team at Peter Salerno Inc. – the most award-winning custom kitchen and bath design firm in North America of the last 15 years.

One’s first glance at this transitional kitchen design is bathed in white and ambient light, a nod to the recent kitchen design trend where whites and neutrals are used as the primary focus of the overall color design scheme. From the custom Maestro Rosolino cabinetry (a trademark of Peter Salerno Inc. design) to the kitchen island base, this kitchen is adorned with white.

As an added bonus to the homeowners, that gorgeous wood flooring is actually the existing floor in the kitchen.

This Peter Salerno Inc. transitional kitchen design is reminiscent of upscale “farm to table” dining, with a touch of countryside charm melded into a truly modern kitchen design. We hope you love it as much as we do!

During the spring of 2020, we’re taking some time to look back at our favorite designs of the last decade. One such design was honored by Signature Kitchens & Baths Magazine as the top bathroom design of 2014.

Created by our parent company Peter Salerno Inc. (the most award-winning custom kitchen and bath design firm since 2001), this French-inspired design lives in a gorgeous home in Princeton, New Jersey. Drawing inspiration from his trips to Vence and Picardie in the French countryside, Peter Salerno set a luxurious tone in this bathroom with clean neutrals, distinct lines and a stunning ceiling.

Peter Salerno Inc. is experiencing a humbling and rewarding 2014 interior design awards season. First, we were honored with NKBA’s 2014 Best Small Kitchen award, as well as a Top 10 People’s Choice Award from HGTV for the same kitchen design.

Now, Peter Salerno and his team have been honored by Signature Kitchens & Baths Magazine with their prestigious 2014 1st Place, Best Bath Design award. Frequent readers of this blog will remember this stunning bathroom design from Princeton, New Jersey, created from the inspirations Peter took from a visit to the French countryside.

As was mentioned in the previous article about this gorgeous French-inspired bathroom, Peter Salerno and his team drew from various aspects of classic and contemporary French design. The light painted cabinetry was inspired by the Picardie region of France. Peter also chose the tile to reflect the kitchen’s custom stonework (a staple of design in Vence).

A look to the other region of the bathroom shows a beautiful porcelain tub set between two large windows – once again, to accentuate the copious amount of natural light this home’s location provides. A walk-in shower sits inside the far wall, and fresh linens await the user at every turn. Lastly, the brass fixtures and mounts reflect French design from the Oise region.

Originally filmed on Day 1 of the 2020 Kitchen + Bath Industry Showcase (KBIS 2020, presented by the NKBA) in Las Vegas, the panel engages in frank, insightful banter about what makes a great awards submission, and how to increase your odds of being noticed.

When Peter Salerno Inc. teamed up with Stratta, the Tile Boutique to create a transitional bath design they called ‘Simple Tranquility’, Peter knew they were creating something special.

The beautiful transitional bathroom was awarded 2nd place nationally by Signature Kitchens and Baths magazine. It was quite an honor (in a season full of them) for Peter Salerno and his team, who also took home two national kitchen design awards from the NKBA during the 2015 KBIS convention in Las Vegas.

‘Simple Tranquility’ is a transitional bathroom in Bergen County, NJ. The cabinets are walnut with an espresso stain from Peter Salerno Inc’s coveted “Mastro Rosolino” (TM) line of cabinets.

The tops are marble from Stone Surfaces in East Rutherford, NJ. The backsplash is glass and porcelain, and the floor is marble tile by Stratta – The Tile Boutique , Wyckoff, NJ. The hardware is polished stainless from Hardware Designs in Fairfield, NJ. All the fixtures and fittings also came from Hardware Designs, while the sconces and chandelier came from Capitol Lighting in Paramus, NJ.

This gorgeous transitional bath design was truly a team effort, and Peter Salerno certainly shares this award with all parties involved – Stratta, Stone Surfaces, Hardware Designs, Capitol Lighting, and his own team at Peter Salerno Inc.

But the people to truly be congratulated are the owners of this nationally award-winning bathroom – it was their project, their space, and their dreams that made this room a reality!

1. The 1st Ever NKBA Renovation Angel Luxury Recycling Kitchen Awards.

Ingenuity and environmentalism collide as KBIS 2020 hosts the first-ever NKBA Renovation Angel Luxury Recycling Kitchen Awards. In October 2019, the NKBA and Renovation Angel announced the awards:

NKBA is proud to introduce the Luxury Kitchen Recycling Awards, in partnership with Renovation Angel, a luxury kitchen recycling company, to recognize these efforts in the kitchen universe. The inaugural awards will be presented at KBIS 2020, on the KBIS NeXT Stage, Jan. 22 in Las Vegas.

The awards will acknowledge kitchen designers, architects, interior designers, showrooms and manufacturers who have rescued one or more kitchens for recycling, reuse and resale or donation.

It’s a wonderful step taken by all parties involved. The Awards will be given out January 22, 2020, at 11:00 a.m.

2. The Stellar 2020 State of the Industry Panel.

What a lineup KBIS has compiled for the KBIS 2020 State of the Industry. The panel will be moderated by Fox Business anchor Melissa Francis and cover critical industry topics, ranging from skilled labor to tariffs to economic shifts. Joining Melissa Francis will be some of the industry’s pre-eminent voices:

Adam Sandow, Chairman and CEO of Sandow Media;
Katty Pien, CMO of LIXIL Americas;

5. The Doobie Brothers.

Yes, you read that right. What good is the work if you can’t celebrate with some play at the end? The remarkable, legendary Doobie Brothers will bring their bluesy classic rock hits to the IBS Closing Concert that rounds out KBIS 2020 on January 23rd at 5 p.m. in the Paradise Event Center.
