Why We Trust, Support and Work With La Cornue

Peter Salerno (of our parent company, Peter Salerno Inc.) has a simple explanation of his custom kitchen and bath design business: “It’s all about the extraordinary”. That simple phrase explains, in a nutshell, why Peter Salerno Inc. works with La Cornue.

Since Albert Dupuy founded La Cornue in Paris in 1908, the brand has become synonymous with world-class kitchen innovation and design. From ranges to rotisseries to ovens to cooktops, La Cornue has been at the forefront of luxury and ingenuity for 110 years.

It only takes one step inside the award-winning Peter Salerno Inc. showroom to note La Cornue’s presence and influence. The cornerstone kitchen design in Peter’s flagship showroom features multiple La Cornue appliances, including a Chateau Grand Palais 180 and Flamberge Rotisserie. In a display bedazzled by Swarovski crystal and adorned with gorgeous accessories, the Grand Palais 180 in particular is the crown jewel of the design.

But La Cornue is about more than its incredible CornuFe and Chateau ranges and its rich history. The main reason we trust, support and work with La Cornue is its people.

Peter Salerno’s client-centric approach to business and kitchen design mirrors La Cornue’s dedication to each owner of its appliances. From the La Cornue USA website:

La Cornue ranges are as unique as each owner, and therefore, we believe, something quite extraordinary.

Our ranges are cherished by our clients as a commissioned piece of art. Not only used to create masterpieces in the kitchen, the ranges themselves are considered by most to be a masterpiece in the kitchen.

La Cornue leads the industry in this regard, but has never lost sight of its own storied heritage. Grounded, yet forward-thinking. Traditional, yet cutting-edge. Culinary-focused, fueled by creativity, and beaming with paternal pride over every elegant range we produce.

The CornuFé 1908: Classic Elegance, Hybrid Innovation

If you desire the opulent elegance of La Cornue’s Château Series combined with the versatile cooktop and streamlined design of the CornuFé 90 and 110, then the CornuFé 1908 is your new favorite range.

Why the “1908”, you ask? For the answer, we turn directly to the La Cornue website:

“Paris, 1908. Albert Dupuy, a gastronome and artisan with a passion for new technology, was to take advantage of the distribution of illuminating gas throughout Paris to perfect the La Cornue gas circulation Roast & Pastry cook. This brand new stove made use of laws governing the natural circulation of hot air within a revolutionary underground vaulted oven.” (credit: La Cornue USA)

The CornuFé 1908 begins with the grand vaulted oven made famous by La Cornue founder Albert Dupuy. Measuring 36″ wide, the CornuFé 1908 provides even the most demanding chef copious oven space. And the vaulted ceiling design promises thorough, even distribution of heat throughout the dish during your baking or roasting process.

Next is the renowned five-burner cooktop that has come to define the  CornuFé Series. The cooktop boasts a central, 17,500 BTU burner, three 12,000 BYU burners, and one 6,000 BTU simmer burner. As an optional extra feature, your CornuFé range can also handle a griddle on the cooktop. This French-inspired five burner cooktop combines ample cooking space with unmatched power.

The oven itself comes equipped with an exposed electric broiler and a powerful 22,000 BTU in propane or natural gas. In addition, each CornuFé 1908 comes with one pastry tray, one flat rack, and a mauviel roasting pan with trivet.

As with the CornuFé 90 and 110, the CornuFé 1908 is available in eight colors and three trim options to suit your style and taste. CornuFé ranges are available in Gloss Black, Matte Black, Pure White, Ivory White, Provence Blue, Royal Blue (the newest color option), Dark Navy Blue or Stainless Steel, and accented with Satin Chrome, Satin Chrome and Polished Copper, or Satin Chrome and Polished Brass trim.

The design professionals at Peter Salerno Inc. know that it isn’t just the unmatched quality of our designs and cabinetry that create an incredible kitchen; the appliances matter too. While refrigeration is an easy solution with Sub Zero or Miele’s fully integrated models, ranges can sometimes be a difficult decision – especially for an Old World kitchen.

La Cornue has created a simple solution: Create a classic looking range that even the most experienced professional chefs will enjoy cooking with. They mix different materials such as stainless steel, copper, and brass with fired porcelain bodies in a wide variety of colors. Because of their performance and timeless appearance they are a common feature in Peter Salerno Inc.’s Tesoro ™ Collection kitchens.

The official Peter Salerno Inc. blog has been touting the luxury and ingenuity of La Cornue ranges for years. An excerpt from a past article:

Ever since Albert Dupuy invented the first La Cornue oven over a century ago, the company has stood at the forefront of cooking design, craftsmanship and innovation. As such, La Cornue has developed a reputation as one of its industry’s leaders, and one of the world’s most luxurious brand names in the world of kitchen design.

Peter Salerno Inc. is proud to not only offer La Cornue’s outstanding line of cooking range products, but to display four La Cornue pieces in our beautiful showroom – a CornuFé range, a CornuFé 1908, a Flamberge Rotisserie, and an absolutely stunning Château range. Much of our partnership with La Cornue is thanks to the tireless work of our business ally and friend Craig Kmiecik, the East Coast Territory Manager for La Cornue at Purcell Murray Company. For over 30 years, Purcell Murray has personified culinary passion and provided the most exquisite brands of appliances, including La Cornue ovens.

Larissa’s expertise was evident well before the private class even started. Her preparation for the course was meticulous and full of fresh ingredients (including absolutely beautiful vegetables). She was precise and kind, happy to share each step of her process with Peter Salerno and his staff.

When our valued clients arrived, Larissa Taboryski and the Peter Salerno Inc. team welcomed them to a one-of-a-kind experience. Peter’s clients who have purchased La Cornue ranges and/or rotisseries are keenly aware of the dynamic, world-class nature of their appliances. One of the perks of being an award-winning kitchen design firm is the ability to work with world-renowned vendors, artisans and kitchen craftsmen. At Peter Salerno Inc., we take pride in our partnership with one of the foremost custom cooking range, oven and rotisserie companies in the world, La Cornue.

For over 30 years, Purcell Murray has personified culinary passion and provided the most exquisite brands of appliances, including La Cornue ovens.

Last week, Craig Kmiecik gave us a guided tour of the four world-class La Cornue pieces (3 cooking ranges and a rotisserie) on display in the Peter Salerno Inc. showroom, analyzing the core benefits of each model and what each can bring to a discerning homeowner’s kitchen. It was a master class in culinary luxury and history, and we’re grateful to Craig for his time, effort and expertise.

Given that Craig’s knowledge base (and the La Cornue product line as a whole) is so broad, we are breaking down each of La Cornue’s 3 major product lines into a separate piece. Read all three, and decide which industry-leading, master-crafted La Cornue cooking appliance is right for your home.

The La Cornue Experience, Part 1: The CornuFé Series

We start our journey through the La Cornue product line with the CornuFé Series, the most streamlined and space-efficient line of La Cornue cooking ranges. Although your CornuFé range may be smaller than the CornuFé 1908 or Château range, it certainly does not lack in diversity, power, or beauty.

A stunning ivory white CornuFé range with single convection oven.

Each CornuFé range boasts a choice of either one or two electric convection ovens, which provide seven distinct cooking modes. This allows the CornuFé the versatility needed to fulfill any recipe or culinary creation imaginable. The French enamel side-swing doors allow tremendous ease of entry and motion, and each CornuFé range comes with four interior oven racks – two flat and two dropped. In addition, the CornuFé includes two enamel baking trays and a trivet.

Each of the seven distinct cooking modes in CornuFé range ovens – thaw & serve, convection oven, convection broiling, convection assisted, conventional oven, browning and warming – covers its own array of recipes, foods and preparations. From the even-heat baking of the convection oven mode, to door-closed broiling for meat and fish, to simple crisping of quiches and pizza using the warming feature, the CornuFé range is versatile enough to handle the needs of any chef, home or professional.

The CornuFé range also has a French-inspired five burner cooktop that combines ample cooking space with unmatched power. The cooktop boasts a central, 17,500 BTU burner, three 12,000 BYU burners, and one 6,000 BTU simmer burner. As an optional extra feature, your CornuFé range can also handle a griddle on the cooktop.

Beyond the sheer power, versatility and cooking options the CornuFé range provides, the line is available in eight beautiful colors and three trim accents, which can be combined to match the taste of the owner. CornuFé ranges are available in Gloss Black, Matte Black, Pure White, Ivory White, Provence Blue, Royal Blue (the newest color option), Dark Navy Blue or Stainless Steel, and accented with Satin Chrome, Satin Chrome and Polished Copper, or Satin Chrome and Polished Brass trim.

The CornuFé series is available in two sizes: the CornuFé 90 (90 cm width, or 35.4 inches) and the CornuFé 110 (110 cm width, or 43 inches).

Keep up to date with our blog at Peter Salerno Inc. – in our next La Cornue Experience feature (Part 2), we will explore the newest hybrid in the La Cornue cooking range family: the CornuFé 1908, which combines the vaulted oven design that made Albert Dupuy and La Cornue famous with the versatile five-burner cooktop of the CornuFé series.
