All Green Everything | A Pantone-Inspired Guide to Green Tones in 2019 Design
Green is not going anywhere.
Green design is less of a ‘trend’ and more of a movement. The cultural shift towards ‘green design’ began with environmentally conscious ideals and eco-friendly materials, in an effort to create more sustainable living spaces without sacrificing quality.
But as with any shift in design focus, the movement towards ‘green design’ spread past its original boundaries. Over the last 24 months, the phrase ‘going green’ not only applies to sustainable home design – it applies to home design color palettes as well.
Two full years after Greenery was named Pantone 2017 Color of the Year, green tones still permeate the color design landscape (and seasonal Pantone color palettes). Evoking natural imagery, pairing beautifully with indoor plants, and providing a generally strong complement to neutral, brown and white tones, green has gone from a home design afterthought to a first choice for many kitchen and bath designers.
The variety of green tones selected by Pantone over the last 2 years is rich. Deep greens like Terrarium Moss and Kale are adjacent to brown neutrals. Blue-green shades like Arcadia and Quetzal Green are almost oceanic, with an emerald-sapphire jewel tone. Pepper Stem and Greenery are classic shades of green that provide balance to fresh design palettes. (And if you’re living on the wild side, there’s always a tone like Lime Punch for you!)
Which green shades are right for your kitchen design or bath design? Which fit well into the overall color palettes presented by Pantone over the last five seasonal design collections?
Here are the green tones presented in Pantone’s seasonal color collections from Spring 2017 through Spring 2019.

Unique AND Useful Father’s Day Gifts for 2016
Copper Moscow Mule Mug (and Ingredients)
The Moscow Mule is unquestionably the “IT” drink of Summer 2016. Also known in some circles as the “Vodka Buck”, the Moscow Mule has a simple recipe: 4 ounces of ginger beer, 1 1/2 ounces of vodka, a quick dash of lime juice and a lime garnish. It’s truly a cocktail worthy of any world-class home bar.
What sets the Moscow Mule apart as a truly trendy cocktail is its presentation: Moscow Mules are generally served in a copper mug, over ice. As a result, the traditional Moscow Mule copper mug is a hot commodity among savvy cocktail drinkers – and a very cool gift for Father’s Day!
For the dad in your life who enjoys staying current (and refreshed) with a cocktail in the summer months, pick up a copper mug and the ingredients for a Moscow Mule. Our pick is the functional and attractive Double Wall Moscow Mule Copper Mug from Uncommon Goods. The double-wall design lets Dad enjoy his Moscow Mule without condensation, ensuring his 2016 Father’s Day cocktail won’t get watered down or warm up in the heat.
EDGES Custom Cutlery – The Monarch
For a dad that’s in need of “that ONE knife” for his kitchen and barbecue, look no further than the Monarch by EDGES custom cutlery. With its patented 8″ AEB-L Stainless blade, exceptional fluidity and ergonomics, and signature dovetail butt design, the Monarch by EDGES is truly a master’s chef knife that’s perfect for any serious home chef.
What sets EDGES apart from other cutlery lines is simple: each piece is custom-crafted and one-of-a-kind, ensuring that your dad’s Father’s Day 2016 knife is the only one like it in the world. A truly boutique, world-class cutlery design brand, EDGES cutlery can be made to order from the ground up – from handle material and color to decorative pins, no two pieces will ever be the same.
If the dad in your life is the king of the kitchen or grill, give him the one knife he’ll be drooling over for years to come.
Natural Material Watches – Sleek Blue-Collar Style
Yes, we said “sleek style” and “blue collar” in the same phrase. But in this case it makes perfect sense, thanks to the Analog Watch Co., creators of fine watches inspired by nature. For the dad in your life who loves nature, innovation, or perhaps just the look of wood or stone, it’s high time you incorporate that into his personal style!
We were blown away by the ingenuity of Analog Watch Co.’s wooden and stone watches – imagine, a flexible wooden watch strap! – and couldn’t help but make a long list of the men (and women) in our lives who would love these.
As an added bonus, Analog Watch Co. has a “one for one” policy in terms of the environment (i.e., for every tree used in production, they plant another). Also, their watches are 80% biodegradable! If your dad is Earth-conscious, into natural personal style, and in need of a truly unique accessory, give him a conversation starter for years to come with one of these watches!
Be Unique With Your 2016 Father’s Day Gift!
Whether you select a Moscow Mule copper mug, EDGES custom cutlery, natural material watch, or another item, make sure your 2016 Father’s Day present to dad reflects the style and design trends of Summer 2016: comfortable yet courageous, unique yet useful.
From all of us to all of you, Happy Father’s Day 2016!
Earth Day 2015: Peter Salerno Inc. Offers Green, Sustainable Design
Ask About Peter Salerno Inc.’s “Green” Design Options
“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” – Jane Goodall
As Earth Day 2015 approaches, you’ll hear a lot about “sustainable design” and “going green”.
At Peter Salerno Inc., “going green” isn’t a trend. It’s a decision we’ve made ever since the family business began generations ago in Italy. Peter’s father was a skilled artisan and craftsman, and his respect for his craft meant proper, full use of the materials he was given.
That respect for woodworking and custom cabinetry was passed down to Peter Salerno, who in turn has made sure it’s a part of his staff’s mindset. While not every custom kitchen and bath design that Peter Salerno Inc. completes is billed as “green” and “sustainable”, that doesn’t mean we aren’t environmentally conscious about our work.
That’s because sustainable design is a mindset and a way of work, not a fad. It’s why Peter Salerno Inc. is proud to work alongside companies like Stratta, the Tile Boutique that are dedicated to environmentally-conscious design options.
Peter Salerno Inc. also understands that “green” design often goes hand-in-hand with technological innovations, like the TopBrewer coffee faucet and La Cornue custom kitchen ranges and rotisseries. Earth Day in 2015 is more sophisticated than simply following the “Three R’s” (reduce, reuse, recycle) – sustainable design must reduce emissions, implement multi-functional technology, and conserve energy while producing high-quality products and results.
