It’s been a busy year for Peter Salerno Inc., full of gratifying design experiences, awards and hard work. It’s a year that welcomed Peter Salerno’s first grandchild, 30 national design awards, a new showroom design vignette with Miele, partnerships with some of the top designers, appliance craftsmen and names in the design business…

But hey, our office puppy Harper just had a birthday! (Of course, this means everything stops for an afternoon – Peter’s daughter and office manager Gabrielle wouldn’t have it any other way!)

We first introduced you to adorable little Harper late last year, and since then the office has fallen in love with her. 3 parts adorable, 2 parts troublemaker and all parts love-bug, Harper makes Peter Salerno’s already cheerful office that much brighter!

Leave your birthday wishes for Harper in the comments, and leave pictures of your favorite office pets as well – we’d love to see them!

There’s a lot of wonderful, fulfilling custom kitchen and bath design work to be done before 2015 is over. But for a moment, let’s all take time out to wish Harper a happy birthday!

Our Favorite Reasons You Should Eat Gelato

If you follow Peter Salerno Inc. on Facebook, you know that the staff loves to cool down on a hot summer day by eating delicious gelato! From its roots with the famed Medici family in Renaissance Italy to its growing popularity around the world today, gelato is a delicious, creamy alternative to ice cream that (believe it or not) is healthier for you in many ways!

Every gelato lover has his or her favorite gelato “spot” – for Peter Salerno and his team, a local Sicilian gelato maker always hits the spot! But whether it’s from a gelato maker, dessert shop or your local grocer, gelato is a wonderful treat – especially during these hot summer months.

So why exactly do we love gelato so much? Here a few great reasons to love this classic Italian dessert delicacy.

Reasons Why We Love Gelato

1. It’s based in all-natural, fresh ingredients. Classic gelato made by hand features milk and water, and generally hazelnuts or pistachios in its base. These natural ingredients, rather than artificial sweeteners, chemicals and preservatives, make gelato a more naturally delicious treat.

2. It’s lower in fat and calories than ice cream. On average, gelato contains 5-6% butterfat, compared to 10-12% in most traditional American ice creams (source: WhyGelato.com). As a result, it’s naturally lower in both fat and calories than its ice cream counterparts!

3. Options, options, options! Gelato comes in several varieties, including cream and fruit-based gelatos. As a result, the tastes you can experience by eating gelato range from sweet to savory, and will satisfy lovers of ice cream, sorbet, sherbet and flavored ices alike!

To many, gelato is a new dessert discovery. But it’s been around since the Renaissance (and in America since the late 1700s) – so why not try it for yourself? It’s about time you discovered why so many people, including Peter Salerno Inc., love gelato!

Peter Salerno Inc. and Office Puppy Harper Present: Tips To Stay Warm!

Peter Salerno Inc. and Office Puppy Harper Present: Tips To Stay Warm!

A few weeks ago, we introduced you to Harper, the official “office puppy” of Peter Salerno Inc. If you visit the award-winning Peter Salerno Inc. showroom at 511 Goffle Road in Wyckoff, New Jersey, chances are you’ll bump into this adorable little Boston Terrier and she’ll help make your day even better than it already is!

At Peter Salerno Inc., we aim to help you live the life you’ve always imagined, in the home of your dreams. With that in mind, we thought our helpful little Harper should pass along her tips to stay warm in the record-setting cold of the Winter of 2015!

Tips to Stay Warm: featuring Peter Salerno Inc.’s Office Puppy Harper!

1. Bed position is important. Your bed will automatically become colder if any of its sides is touching an exterior wall of your home. (It’s common sense, but it’s easy to overlook!) If you want to stay nice and toasty in your bed, make sure it’s against an interior wall. If you love the way it looks near that exterior wall of yours, make sure to leave a few inches of space.

2. Stay active! It may feel natural to curl up on the couch under a ton of blankets, but staying active helps your circulation and metabolism – both of which will help regulate your body temperature and keep you nice and warm this winter. Of course, Harper likes to stay active by accumulating as many toys to play with as possible!

3. Turn on the ceiling fan (on LOW). Yes, this seems counterproductive, but trust us! Warm air rises – so by turning your ceiling fan on its lowest setting, you will be circulating nice, warm air from your heater around the whole house, not letting it languish up near the ceiling where you can’t feel it.

4. If all else fails, snuggle up with a friend and take a nice, warm nap!

Peter Salerno Inc.’s Christmas Gift Is an Adorable Puppy

Gabrielle Salerno, the amazing head of Customer Relations and Social Media Outreach for Peter Salerno Inc., has been bringing a friend to the office lately. While that would usually be questionable in terms of office protocol (and productivity!), the staff at Peter’s showroom has had a hard time telling Gabrielle’s friend to go away…

Mostly because the puppy is so darn cute!

As you can see, Harper is already well-acquainted with Elliot the Elf. While Elliot seems to have a bit of the “jealousy bug”, we’re sure that he will warm to Harper just like the rest of us have.
