Kitchen Design Ideas With Pantone Spring 2020 Colors

As we stated in another recent article, the best thing about Pantone color trend reports is designing with them! With that in mind, why don’t we start taking a look at how the best kitchen designers in the world are drawing inspiration from the Pantone Spring 2020 fashion color trend report.

With 2020 Pantone Color of the Year Classic Blue leading the charge, Spring 2020 provides a refreshing and diverse array of Pantone colors. From the alluring heat of Flame Scarlet to the deep purple of Grape Compote, it’s hard to recall a more diverse color palette than Pantone’s Spring 2020 in recent memory.

That being said… we’re starting with the classics.

Classic Blue – a dependent, sturdy tone. Sunlight – a blushing yellow/tan that borders on neutral. Brilliant White – a radiant white with a blue undertone. Ash – a rock-solid medium gray. Lark – a versatile and warm tan neutral.

Let’s see what award-winning kitchen and bath design firm Peter Salerno Inc. can do with these fashionable Spring 2020 colors in mind.

Since then, the design has become a reality, with more and more reveals happening on Peter Salerno Inc.’s social media as the weeks pass. We wanted to keep you updated, and flash back to the original installation article – which has some amazing videos and photos! Enjoy!

The team at Peter Salerno Inc. employed a massive boom to install a world-class luxury glass countertop in a high-rise kitchen overlooking Manhattan. The videos must be seen to be believed!

Peter Salerno Inc. is the most award-winning American custom kitchen and bath design firm of the 21st century, with awards from prestigious organizations like the NKBA, Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Signature Kitchens & Baths. For this particular kitchen design, the task was at once simple and complex. The simple part: installing a fabulous kitchen counter from Galaxy Glass & Stone.

The hard part? Getting that luxurious, hand-crafted counter to a high-rise apartment overlooking the gorgeous skyline of Manhattan.

Team members from Peter Salerno Inc. and Galaxy Glass & Stone decided to hoist the countertop using the assistance of a massive boom crane, delicately lifting the counter up the side of the luxury apartment building. From there, the crew carefully brought the counter inside the apartment, and completed the kitchen installation.

The result was well worth the effort. The clients now have a one-of-a-kind conversation piece as the centerpiece of their kitchen design!

The beautiful countertop is laced with metal, then topped with glass for an industrial, transitional look. The counter blends nicely with the custom range hood on the kitchen’s feature wall, and plays well against the rich brown cabinetry, drawers, and kitchen island base.

Peter Salerno’s personal trademarks abound in this kitchen design. From the recessed soffit above the kitchen island to the clean, neutral color scheme, this transitional kitchen provides eye-popping features and design elements that transcend simple trends. It’s important to have a kitchen design that takes current design trends and implements them in a way that becomes timeless.

We love great kitchen design. Which is why we love RangeCraft Hoods.

The range hood for your kitchen’s cooking area is one of the most overlooked elements in most kitchen designs. Instead of seeing it as just a ‘necessary piece of hardware’, why not treat it as an appliance you can customize to your own unique kitchen design and taste?

Peter Salerno’s Custom Tin Range Hoods: The Process

Peter Salerno’s Custom Tin Range Hoods: The Process

One of Peter Salerno’s signature design elements is his use of reclaimed tin from historic locations to create stunning custom range hoods and ceiling pieces in his award-winning kitchen designs. But how does this world-class designer take a raw material that’s seemingly headed from the scrap heap, and transform it into a luxurious statement piece?

Peter Salerno Inc. custom kitchen designs have utilized reclaimed tin in a myriad of ways. From majestic soffit designs to custom refrigerator doors to custom cabinetry, Peter and his team have shown their love for (and mastery of) reclaimed tin in design. But perhaps the hallmark of Peter Salerno’s tin kitchen design features is his custom tin range hoods.

You can see the reclaimed tin from Route 66 used to create the custom La Cornue range hood and Swarovski crystal studded recessed tin ceiling in the Peter Salerno Inc. showroom in Wyckoff, NJ. Reclaimed tin from a hotel in Chicago was used in the “Jewel Box” kitchen, named 2014 Best Small Kitchen by NKBA and a People’s Choice Kitchen for 2014 by HGTV.

Walking through the creation process of Peter Salerno’s custom tin range hoods and recessed ceilings truly awe-inspiring. Peter knows the background of every piece of reclaimed tin that he works with – whether it’s a gas station on Route 66, or a hotel in Chicago, or a reclaimed tin roof.

Peter and his staff of artisans take great pride in turning the everyday into the extraordinary, and there is much to be said for taking a piece of tin once considered “scrap” and turning it into personalized treasure in your very own award-winning kitchen.

Making a Luxury Kitchen Feel Personal With Custom Design

Making a Luxury Kitchen Feel Personal With Custom Design

There are so many ways to make kitchen design feel luxurious. But there are only a handful of ways to make luxury kitchen design feel personal to YOU. If your forever kitchen doesn’t feel like your forever kitchen, then what’s the point?

True luxury starts and ends with you. What you place value on is a question only you can answer – the same should hold true of your dream kitchen design. It’s why the truly elite kitchen design companies start their design process with questions, not suggestions. “Cookie cutter” high-end kitchen design is great for flipping houses or looking just like your neighbor down the street. But if you want a truly standout kitchen design that speaks to your life, your loves and your definition of luxury, then personalized custom design features are crucial to your kitchen.

Hiring a world-class custom kitchen and bath designer like Peter Salerno is a great way to ensure your home kitchen design is both elegant and personally distinctive. The “new” trend of personalizing luxury kitchen design is a staple of Peter Salerno Inc.’s vision since 1997. Peter’s own home kitchen is even adorned with hand-painted floral arrangements on each of his custom cabinets – one to signify the birth month of each of his family members.

In a recent luxury kitchen design feature on Instagram, Peter Salerno Inc. outlined a recent kitchen design project in which the homeowner worked hand-in-hand with Peter Salerno to create a truly unique, luxury masterpiece of a home kitchen.

The design started by incorporating furniture pieces, screens and vintage items to be converted into portions of the luxury kitchen design. (For example, look above to the beautiful mantle that became part of this one-of-a-kind custom range hood!) By centering the design around the clients, their desires, needs, and what they found to be aesthetically beautiful, Peter Salerno and his team were able to begin construction on a kitchen design that was both marvelous and guaranteed to be impossible to duplicate.

We are in love with the custom cabinetry in this kitchen design – especially considering they weren’t cabinets to begin with at all! The original blue screens featuring ornate elephant patterns were carefully crafted into front panels of new, high-end custom kitchen cabinets, creating a series of pieces throughout the kitchen that were both unique and personal to the homeowners.

“Making a kitchen completely personal is something Peter Salerno Inc. is known for,” Peter Salerno Inc.’s Instagram remarks – and the photos above are no exception. Peter envisioned a new use for a classic book shelf, transforming it into a beautiful server for this showstopping kitchen. Add in the incredible custom island sink, statement pendant lighting and dazzling turquoise soffit feature, and you have a custom, luxurious kitchen design that speaks directly to the heart of its owners.

Isn’t it your turn to transform your home’s kitchen into your forever kitchen, that’s both luxurious and personal to you? Talk to an expert.

8 PANTONE Colors For Your 2020 Kitchen Design

Classic Blue (PANTONE 19-4052 TCX)

Collection: Spring/Summer 2020 and Autumn/Winter 2020-2021

Pantone 2020 Color of the Year Classic Blue

Naturally, the anchor of this article is Classic Blue, the Pantone 2020 Color of the Year. Reassuring, relaxing and natural, Classic Blue is about as versatile a cool tone as you’re going to find. Check out some of our previous notes on how to apply Classic Blue in your designs.

Brilliant White (PANTONE 11-4001 TCX)

Collection: Spring/Summer 2020

Pantone 2020 color kitchen design Brilliant White

The hint of blue undertone to Brilliant White makes it an amazing complementary color to Classic Blue (and most of the colors on this list). Brilliant White is a vibrant standout that feels custom-built for kitchen design in 2020 – fresh, sleek, clean and able to stand on its own in an all-white kitchen. Use with confidence!

Sandstone (PANTONE 16-1328 TCX)

Collection: Autumn/Winter 2020-2021

Pantone 2020 color kitchen design Sandstone

Sandstone is a smart, sturdy neutral that reminds us of rich tan stone and lightly stained wood. A great option as a “backbone” in your kitchen design color palette, Sandstone can work just about anywhere – cabinetry, flooring, tile, paint or decor.

Samba (PANTONE 19-1662 TCX)

Collection: Autumn/Winter 2020-2021

Pantone 2020 color kitchen design Samba

Looking to spice your 2020 kitchen design up a bit? Samba is a great choice, with its “kick” of deep chili pepper red. While certainly not an “all-over” color, Samba provides punch in the right doses and spaces – tile accents, decor, and more.

Saffron (PANTONE 14-1064 TCX)

Collection: Spring/Summer 2020

Pantone 2020 color kitchen design Saffron

Perhaps the sunniest tone of Pantone’s 2020 color offerings, we love Saffron for its cheery disposition. Who wouldn’t love to walk into their kitchen in the morning and be greeted by the warmth of Saffron? From a bold backsplash to smartly-applied paint to dishware and decor, this is a really fun color to play with in your kitchen design!

Sunlight (PANTONE 13-0822 TCX)

Collection: Autumn/Winter 2020-2021

Pantone 2020 color kitchen design Sunlight

If you like the warmth of Saffron without all the “pizzazz”, Sunlight may be more your style. A cozier blend of “tan neutral” and “yellow” notes, Sunlight is much more easily paired with some of the other offerings on this list. Applicable as a lead tone in a neutral kitchen or an accent in a bolder one, Sunlight is a pleasant surprise.

Mosaic Blue (PANTONE 18-4528 TCX)

Collection: Spring/Summer 2020

Pantone 2020 color kitchen design Mosaic Blue

Mosaic Blue is a bit more specific in its usage as a kitchen design color, but it can pay major dividends in the right hands! This blue-green tone evokes natural themes of the sea and lush forests, and is a stand-apart choice for a beach or nautical-themed kitchen. Do you own a beach home or shore house? Think about Mosaic Blue!

Sleet (PANTONE 16-3916 TCX)

Collection: Autumn/Winter 2020-2021

Pantone 2020 color kitchen design Sleet

Every great color design concept needs a sturdy base. We love Sleet for its calm, reliable gray – just dark enough to be supportive, just light enough not to dominate the palette. Sleet is one of those perfect colors for tile, island counter space and furniture. If clean, neutral and sophisticated is your goal, look at Sleet for your 2020 kitchen design.
