Watch a Luxury Kitchen Design Construction Process
Going behind the scenes of a luxury kitchen design construction process is beautiful and rewarding. The team at Peter Salerno Inc. (the most award-winning custom kitchen and bath design firm of the 21st century in North America) recently gave its Instagram followers a sneak peek at a stunning kitchen design that’s still a ‘work in progress’.
The first detail that jumped out at us were the gorgeous, handcrafted twin kitchen islands. Finished in a elegant blue-gray and adorned with hand-carved corner features, these islands will certainly serve as the centerpiece of the kitchen. We also get a sneak peek at the construction of a magnificent soffit above the islands (a Peter Salerno Inc. trademark), and we can’t wait to see how it turns out!
The sheer amount of windows and glass features in this kitchen design is striking; even mid-construction, the amount of natural light cascading into the space is unreal. Utilizing glass doors on the custom Maestro Rosolino cabinetry ensures that daylight will reflect throughout the space, keeping the need for daytime lighting to a minimum.
For Peter Salerno and his team, attention to detail is everything. From the extra cost to properly paper and protect the new flooring to small protective measures, every square inch of this kitchen is treated like gold during the construction process. And if you look closely, you’ll notice a personal touch – the top of each glass panel on every perimeter cabinet is hand-decorated with a carving of flowers. Each unique flower represents the birthday month of a member of the client’s household.
A unique design and construction element of this kitchen is the butler’s pantry, which isn’t ‘tucked away’ like many others. Rather, the butler’s pantry sits quaintly down a short hallway, removed from the kitchen but still within plain view of its occupants. The butler’s pantry hallway is adjacent to the range and hood, making food preparation and finishing details simple and effective.
Function is equally as important to form, and this Peter Salerno kitchen respects that fact. In addition to the abundance of cabinet fixtures, shelving space exists throughout the kitchen design (including a copious amount in the butler’s pantry). The breadth and depth of the cabinets and shelving ensure that nothing is out of reach for this kitchen’s owners.
Making a luxurious design space as functional as it is beautiful is key. It’s what makes this large kitchen seem cozy, and will allow cooks and other food preparers to easily and efficiently share their creations with family, friends and loved ones. After all, the true measure of a great kitchen is how inviting it is for its users and guests!
We can’t wait for the next kitchen design update Peter Salerno posts to Instagram, and look forward to exclusive photographs of this kitchen design in its finished form. But if you follow them like we do, you won’t have to!
