Cooking in An Award-Winning Design Showroom Kitchen

Cooking in An Award-Winning Design Showroom Kitchen

It’s one thing to have one of the most respected kitchen design showrooms in America. It’s another thing entirely when you can actually cook world-class meals in that showroom!

The team at Peter Salerno Inc. recently celebrated the holiday season with an office party and beautiful Italian meal. The food was prepared by Peter Salerno and his team in their own showroom, using state-of-the-art appliances in their fully functional showpiece La Cornue kitchen.

The kitchen design, which features a La Cornue Grand Palais range and Flamberge rotisserie, exudes elegance from every angle. From the stunning statement island to the recessed tin ceiling adorned with Swarovski crystal, the kitchen is truly the centerpiece of the showroom.

Peter Salerno Inc.’s Wyckoff, New Jersey showroom was named Most Innovative Small Showroom at KBIS 2015 (the world’s largest design convention hosted by the NKBA). In March 2020, Peter Salerno will serve as one of KBIS’ judges for the 2020 Innovative Showroom contest.

The Peter Salerno Inc. holiday party menu included imported Italian pasta and a choice of two homemade sauces, each prepared by Peter Salerno himself. Add in Peter’s design family, his nuclear and extended family, and his beautiful grandchildren, and it was a celebration to remember!

As with everything at the Peter Salerno Inc. offices and showroom in Wyckoff, NJ, the meal and celebration were a team effort.

Is Blue the Breakout Kitchen Design Color of 2019?

Is Blue the Breakout Kitchen Design Color of 2019?

Getting the blues might be exactly what your kitchen needs in 2019. Pantone’s Spring 2019 color palette featured bold tones like Living Coral (the 2019 Color of the Year) and Mango Madness, coupled with trendy neutrals like Sweet Corn and Toffee.

But Princess Blue seems primed to emerge from the pack as a go-to kitchen design color in 2019, thanks to its versatility, rich ‘pop’ of oceanic blue, and the luxurious nature of its sapphire jewel tone.

When award-winning design firms like Peter Salerno Inc. proclaim, “Blue is becoming our dominant color this Spring with our current design jobs” (via Instagram), it’s hard not to take notice. Navy blues have taken the lead in past design seasons, but a rich royal like Princess Blue brings a different vibe to the (kitchen) table altogether.

Will Princess Blue become the breakout Pantone color of 2019?

As 2019 kitchen design photography emerges, it’s evident royal blue tones are beginning to weave a thread through much of this year’s great design. Blue is a savvy, sophisticated choice for a rich color that blends well with virtually any neutral.

The 2019 Peter Salerno Inc. kitchen design featured in the photo below (and in this article) uses Princess Blue in its stemware, dishware and other accessories. This splash of color balances four different neutral tones in the design scheme – white, flat gray, brushed silver (on the appliances), and the light brown of the reclaimed vintage ceiling beams.

Blue isn’t just making a statement in ‘royal’ varieties in 2019. The brilliant kitchen island featured below exhibits a lighter blue reminiscent of Little Boy Blue from the Pantone Spring 2018 collection. As in the kitchen design above, this eye-catching blue tone pulls together a transitional kitchen full of white and gray grained surfaces – both the faux wood grain flooring and the beautiful island countertop.

Even world-class appliance craftsmen like La Cornue are featuring shades of blue in their designs. The stunning Grand Palais La Cornue piece featured below dazzled attendees at a recent KBIS conference. A more royal shade of blue applies to the La Cornue range at the very bottom of this piece; the French Blue La Cornue range in that Peter Salerno Inc. kitchen design pulls central focus in an ornate kitchen, sitting neatly below a unique reclaimed tin custom range hood.

Magazine spreads are featuring more and more blue kitchen designs as well. Bergen Magazine’s recent feature of this blue-based transitional kitchen design turned heads with its variety of blue shades tying together a neutral kitchen. From a light blue feature wall to classic Dutch blue-and-white ceramics, dark blue-and-white kitchen chairs to an undertone of blue in the smoked glass on the refrigerator, this kitchen design proves that blue can dominate the conversation without overwhelming the senses.

But what’s YOUR take on kitchen design colors in 2019? Is blue the breakout star of the year, or is another color poised to dominate the kitchen design landscape? We’d love to hear from you in the comments section below!

Cooking on the La Cornue Flamberge Rotisserie

Cooking on the La Cornue Flamberge Rotisserie

Your choice of kitchen appliances is highly subjective, of course. For our money, the best rotisserie on the market today is the La Cornue Flamberge Rotisserie.

The Flamberge Rotisserie by La Cornue is as effective physically as it is stunning artistically. A French Blue edition of the Flamberge is present in the main display at the award-winning Peter Salerno Inc. flagship design showroom in Wyckoff, New Jersey – and it’s so wonderful, the staff can’t help but use it sometimes (see video above).

The Flamberge Rotisserie is powered by a 27,000 BTU gas burner, yet requires no special ventilation methods and needs only a 120-volt power supply. La Cornue utilizes its trademark vaulted design in the Flamberge’s concave rear walls, which is covered with synthetic wicks to draw up radiant heat without the flame ever touching your food.

An overview, directly from La Cornue’s official website:

A real jewel of technology, the Flamberge Centenaire roasts all meats, poultry, fish and whole fruits perfectly.

With a new, streamlined yet spectacular design, and a reliable, simplified mechanism, the Flamberge optimises the circulation of heat flow.

Both easy to fit because it has no particular ventilation constraints and practical, the Flamberge is a magnetic attraction in any kitchen, immediately arousing a desire to use it.

La Cornue designed special cabinet to accommodate “The Flamberge rotisserie” which will also offer you additional storage.

We at Design Your Lifestyle have been lovers of the La Cornue brand for years. An excerpt from a past article:

Ever since Albert Dupuy invented the first La Cornue oven over a century ago, the company has stood at the forefront of cooking design, craftsmanship and innovation. As such, La Cornue has developed a reputation as one of its industry’s leaders, and one of the world’s most luxurious brand names in the world of kitchen design.

Peter Salerno Inc. is proud to not only offer La Cornue’s outstanding line of cooking range products, but to display four La Cornue pieces in our beautiful showroom – a CornuFé range, a CornuFé 1908, a Flamberge Rotisserie, and an absolutely stunning Château range. Much of our partnership with La Cornue is thanks to the tireless work of our business ally and friend Craig Kmiecik, the East Coast Territory Manager for La Cornue at Purcell Murray Company. For over 30 years, Purcell Murray has personified culinary passion and provided the most exquisite brands of appliances, including La Cornue ovens.

Why We Trust, Support and Work With La Cornue

Why We Trust, Support and Work With La Cornue

Peter Salerno (of our parent company, Peter Salerno Inc.) has a simple explanation of his custom kitchen and bath design business: “It’s all about the extraordinary”. That simple phrase explains, in a nutshell, why Peter Salerno Inc. works with La Cornue.

Since Albert Dupuy founded La Cornue in Paris in 1908, the brand has become synonymous with world-class kitchen innovation and design. From ranges to rotisseries to ovens to cooktops, La Cornue has been at the forefront of luxury and ingenuity for 110 years.

It only takes one step inside the award-winning Peter Salerno Inc. showroom to note La Cornue’s presence and influence. The cornerstone kitchen design in Peter’s flagship showroom features multiple La Cornue appliances, including a Chateau Grand Palais 180 and Flamberge Rotisserie. In a display bedazzled by Swarovski crystal and adorned with gorgeous accessories, the Grand Palais 180 in particular is the crown jewel of the design.

But La Cornue is about more than its incredible CornuFe and Chateau ranges and its rich history. The main reason we trust, support and work with La Cornue is its people.

Peter Salerno Inc.’s relationship with Craig Kmiecik is a tremendous balance of honesty and work ethic. Craig and Peter have grown their relationship (and their support of the La Cornue brand) into one of the foremost representation of La Cornue in the United States.

Peter Salerno’s client-centric approach to business and kitchen design mirrors La Cornue’s dedication to each owner of its appliances. That’s why La Cornue offers an unparalleled amount of customization options for its appliances, ranges and rotisseries – from varying cooktops and burner setups, to colors, to fixture materials, to heat and convection options.

From the La Cornue USA website:

La Cornue ranges are as unique as each owner, and therefore, we believe, something quite extraordinary.

Our ranges are cherished by our clients as a commissioned piece of art. Not only used to create masterpieces in the kitchen, the ranges themselves are considered by most to be a masterpiece in the kitchen.

La Cornue leads the industry in this regard, but has never lost sight of its own storied heritage. Grounded, yet forward-thinking. Traditional, yet cutting-edge. Culinary-focused, fueled by creativity, and beaming with paternal pride over every elegant range we produce.

Peter Salerno Inc. Client Update: Beautiful Kitchen Design Photos

See These Beautiful Kitchen Design Photos: 4 Year Later!

Four years ago, Peter Salerno Inc. installed a custom kitchen in the home of the Carrolls. It was a privilege to work in their home and a pleasure to call them clients.

The work was one of Peter Salerno’s favorite kitchen design projects, and Peter had to check in 4 years later to see how the Carrolls made the kitchen design their very own. Even the master craftsman himself was blown away by how wonderfully his clients made use of (and maintained) their kitchen space.

The Carrolls’ kitchen design incorporated many of Peter Salerno Inc.’s signature design elements. A custom range hood made from reclaimed metals adorns the over space. A handcrafted custom kitchen island accents the center of the design, complete with bold island accent lighting (a hot design trend executed with a classic flair). And the custom cabinetry, a cornerstone of Salerno kitchen design, looks as beautiful today as it did when it was crafted.

The kitchen design comes complete with a beautiful black La Cornue range, one of the finest kitchen ranges in the world today. The range is backed by a beautiful custom backsplash, and the complementary floor and wall tile add a large measure of custom class and refined charm to the kitchen space.

Michael and Francine Carroll greatly enjoy sharing this kitchen space with their family and friends, and it is truly the heart of their home.

But words can only say so much – please take a moment to look at these beautiful kitchen design photos from inside the Carrolls’ home, and see for yourself why it is one of Peter Salerno’s favorite kitchen design projects in recent memory!
