That is the opening of a wonderful piece about Peter Salerno, CMKBD – owner of Peter Salerno Inc. (our parent company). In the latest ‘Profiles in Excellence’ article on the NKBA Connect blog, Peter Salerno and the NKBA celebrate the joint benefits their business relationship has created.

“I’ve found one of the best ways to build your business is to be recognized as an award winning designer,” says Salerno. “The NKBA Design Competition challenges you to be your best and puts your career on the fast track.”

Peter Salerno Inc. is the most award-winning custom kitchen and bath design firm of the 21st century. Many of those design awards were presented by the NKBA and their KBIS conventions. The publicity garnered from these prestigious awards, coupled by the name power and recognition of the NKBA, has led to a great deal of business for Peter and his firm.

“Being an NKBA Design Competition winner has given me and my business increased exposure and credibility,“ says Salerno in the article.

That exposure has allowed Peter Salerno Inc. to be an annual fixture at KBIS, a featured designer with HGTV, and to install kitchen and bath designs on three continents in multiple countries.

A great step that Peter took was obtaining his NKBA Certification, which you can read more about here.

Peter Salerno Inc.’s Mendham Showroom Celebrates 1st Anniversary!

Peter Salerno Inc.’s Mendham Showroom Celebrates 1st Anniversary!

One year ago, Peter Salerno Inc. took a leap of faith and opened its second showroom – a quaint but luxurious space along West Main Street in historic Mendham, New Jersey. The move reminded Peter Salerno and his wife Tracy of the risk they took in 1997, when they opened their first showroom location in Wyckoff, New Jersey.

Since their first showroom opened, Peter Salerno Inc. has become the most award-winning North American custom kitchen and bath design firm of the 21st century. Even when their re-designed main showroom in Wyckoff, New Jersey, was named Most Innovative Small Showroom by KBIS in 2015, there was still a need for expansion.

With that expansion came the need for greater display space, and Peter’s business family (and actual family) began to look into a satellite showroom. That search led them to beautiful Mendham, New Jersey, a charming town along the famed Patriot’s Path of Revolutionary War lore.

The new Peter Salerno Inc. showroom (located at 5 West Main Street, Mendham, NJ) features multiple custom kitchen design solutions focusing on a blend of classic and contemporary transitional kitchen design. A rustic awning and opulent, original stained glass adorn the front window and invite you inside.

Once inside the Mendham showroom, Peter Salerno dazzles you with fresh white walls and tile resting atop custom kitchen cabinetry. This showcases the perfect blend of “new school” transitional kitchen design and “old world” custom Maestro Rosolino cabinetry that is the hallmark of Peter Salerno Inc. custom kitchen design. Clients can also procure exclusive, unique pieces from the brand new EDGES custom cutlery collection.

From there, you are taken on a “mini” tour of the signature style that has made Peter Salerno Inc. the most award-winning kitchen and bath design firm in North America this century. The boutique showroom features a mix of classic and contemporary, traditional and transitional kitchen design. A large high-definition screen gives our clients a further look into the state-of-the-art Peter Salerno Inc. design portfolio.

The heart of Mendham was the perfect place for Peter Salerno Inc.’s satellite showroom, which balances a charming blend of high-end, world-class kitchen design with the charm of one of the most historic suburbs in New Jersey.

Written by Trudy Walz and photographed by Peter Rymwid, this kitchen design feature layout appears in the latest issue of Gallery New Jersey – Luxury Homes and Estates. The kitchen design, created and executed by Peter Salerno Inc., is inspired by (of all things) a rusted car.

As Peter Salerno Inc.’s Director of Social Media Outreach Gabrielle Salerno-Mayer explains, “The island panels and custom metal hood were inspired by an abandoned rusty car. The client gave our designers a photo of a rusted car and said, ‘Use this as inspiration.’ Peter and our metal artist left steel panels out in the elements for a month and let nature take its course. After the aging process started, paint, acid, lacquer, and a blow torch completed the patina.”

  • Sinks – Custom Sinks by Texas Light Smith
  • Light Fixtures – Corona in Blackened Smoke Metal Finish by Habbardton Forge

All told, this one of a kind eclectic kitchen features multiple working stations, and state-of-the-art appliances that are chef’s quality but amenable to non-professional cooks as well.

Peter Salerno Inc.’s 20 Years In Design: ‘Then and Now’ Showroom Photos

Peter Salerno Inc.’s Design Showrooms: Then and Now Photos

In our last two articles celebrating Peter Salerno Inc.‘s 20 years of award-winning custom kitchen, bath and home design, we’ve shown you photos from the very beginning of Peter Salerno’s design journey, as well as a look back at Peter Salerno Inc.’s 2006 Hurricane Katrina home construction to benefit Habitat for Humanity.

We thought it would be fun in this piece to show you the differences between “then and now” in terms of Peter Salerno Inc.’s Wyckoff, New Jersey showrooms. The original Peter Salerno Inc. showroom (opened in 1997) and the current showroom existed on adjacent lots, but they feel worlds apart.

The original Peter Salerno Inc. showroom, founded in 1997 on Goffle Road in Wyckoff, NJ, was a converted two-story home that became the foundation for the most award-winning custom design firm in North America in the 21st century. Above, you can see the humble beginnings of the Peter Salerno Inc. brand…

And below, you can see the design wonderland that is 511 Goffle Road, Wyckoff, New Jersey. Home to Peter Salerno Inc., Stratta the Tile Boutique, and Oberg & Lindqust Appliances, Peter Salerno Inc. is now a one-stop design destination for the discriminating home or business owner.

The new Peter Salerno Inc. showroom sits adjacent to the old showroom’s location.

Peter Salerno is the son of Rosolino Salerno (“Maestro Rosolino”), an expert woodworker and cabinetry designer whose trade was honed in Sicily. From the beginning of his career, Peter took pride in plying his own skills after those of his father, and can be seen hand-carving a wooden eagle feature outside his original design showroom in 1997 (see below).

Today, Peter’s design expertise has led him to partner with some the world’s foremost brands in design, including Miele (whose transitional kitchen design feature was designed by Peter Salerno Inc. for his showroom, seen below), La Cornue, Rangecraft, Sub-Zero, Wolf, EDGES Custom Cutlery, Purcell-Murray and TopBrewer.

While the original Peter Salerno Inc. showroom had its charm, the current Peter Salerno Inc. design showroom at 511 Goffle Road in Wyckoff, New Jersey, is a destination for lovers of world-class design, and a winner of the KBIS Most Innovative Showroom award.

Take a look for yourself at one of the design vignettes in Peter’s original showroom (first picture below) in 1997, followed by the current, awe-inspiring La Cornue master kitchen design in today’s showroom.

We love these photos, as a testament to Peter Salerno’s growth as a designer – but also for their similarities in custom design, small unique touches, and master woodworking craftsmanship that have been hallmarks of Peter Salerno Inc. design since 1997.

Peter Salerno Inc. Celebrates 20 Years In Design: Humble Beginnings

Part 1 in Peter Salerno Inc.’s 20 Years of Design Celebration!

We hope you had a safe, healthy and happy New Year! 2017 is such a momentous year for many reasons. For our parent company Peter Salerno Inc., it’s a time to reflect and celebrate on 20 years in the custom kitchen and bath design industry. From 1997 to the present, Peter Salerno and his team of world-class designers have created more award-winning designs than any North American company. It’s amazing to look back and see that a revolutionary design company had such humble beginnings.

Today, the Peter Salerno Inc. design showroom at 511 Goffle Road in Wyckoff, New Jersey, is a destination for lovers of world-class design, and a winner of the KBIS Most Innovative Showroom award. The first Peter Salerno Inc. showroom was much different – a humble-yet-impressive design center formed from a converted two-story home.

We thought it would be fun to share early photos from Peter Salerno’s initial journey into the custom design business, and give you a taste of just how far the Peter Salerno Inc. brand and team have come over the last 20 years.

Before it was transformed, Peter Salerno’s first showroom looked like this. Can you believe it?

Peter Salerno and his wife Tracy put their life savings into the initial Peter Salerno Inc. design showroom, and Tracy left her career in education to share in her husband’s dream of what would become a state-of-the-art custom kitchen and bath design company.

The original Peter Salerno Inc. showroom featured six design displays downstairs, with upstairs business offices. The joy of the showroom’s opening was shared by multiple generations of the Salerno family, including Peter’s father and father-in-law (pictured below). Peter’s father, Rosolino, was a master cabinet maker and woodworker who plied his craft in Sicily before coming to America. (Peter’s custom cabinetry line, Maestro Rosolino, is named in honor of his father.)

At first, there was barely any money to put into advertising the newly-formed business, as all of the Salerno’s finances were put into the showroom and initial design projects. Peter’s first clients were obtained through word of mouth and recommendations, so these first design projects were crucial to Peter Salerno Inc.’s success.

Over time, Peter’s commitment to the craft passed down to him by his father and his love for world-class design and client-centered design elements paid dividends. Peter Salerno Inc. became a renowned kitchen and bath design company, winning 35 national design awards from 2002-2016.

Make Your Own Mozzarella With Jeanne Dargis (And Us!)

This was SO much fun. Recently, Peter and Tracy Salerno of Peter Salerno Inc. (award-winning custom kitchen and bath design) had the pleasure of making their own mozzarella with Jeanne Dargis – aka “The Cheese Teacher”!

Jeanne Dargis is based out of Nutley, New Jersey, and can travel throughout the Tri-State area. Her expertise in cheesemaking is well-renowned, and “The Cheese Teacher” offers private parties as well as public lessons/courses.
