Peter Salerno’s Custom Tin Range Hoods: The Process

Peter Salerno’s Custom Tin Range Hoods: The Process

One of Peter Salerno’s signature design elements is his use of reclaimed tin from historic locations to create stunning custom range hoods and ceiling pieces in his award-winning kitchen designs. But how does this world-class designer take a raw material that’s seemingly headed from the scrap heap, and transform it into a luxurious statement piece?

Peter Salerno Inc. custom kitchen designs have utilized reclaimed tin in a myriad of ways. From majestic soffit designs to custom refrigerator doors to custom cabinetry, Peter and his team have shown their love for (and mastery of) reclaimed tin in design. But perhaps the hallmark of Peter Salerno’s tin kitchen design features is his custom tin range hoods.

You can see the reclaimed tin from Route 66 used to create the custom La Cornue range hood and Swarovski crystal studded recessed tin ceiling in the Peter Salerno Inc. showroom in Wyckoff, NJ. Reclaimed tin from a hotel in Chicago was used in the “Jewel Box” kitchen, named 2014 Best Small Kitchen by NKBA and a People’s Choice Kitchen for 2014 by HGTV.

Peter and his staff of artisans take great pride in turning the everyday into the extraordinary, and there is much to be said for taking a piece of tin once considered “scrap” and turning it into personalized treasure in your very own award-winning kitchen.

Amazing Home Bar Design: ‘The Eclectic Pub’ Photos + Specs

Amazing Home Bar Design: ‘The Eclectic Pub’ Photos + Specs

Stone. Reclaimed tin. Gorgeous wood. Statement lighting. Spiral staircase. Hold on tight; this home bar design is a jaw-dropper.

‘The Eclectic Pub’ is a world-class custom home bar design from Peter Salerno Inc. – the most award-winning North American custom kitchen and bath design firm of the 21st century. Complete with custom stonework, one-of-a-kind tin panels and feature shelving you must see to believe, this home bar is the stuff of which dreams are made.

It all starts with the woodwork. Beautifully rich and finished to a radiant ‘nutty’ glow, the wood elements of this home pub are the foundation and backbone of the design. From the flooring to the door trim, the cabinetry to the ceiling to the perimeter of the glass feature wall component, wood provides the feeling of being ‘at home’ that every great bar (even the most luxurious ones) exudes.

And let’s talk about the feature wall. Recessed lighting radiates out from behind an opaque pane of glass, drawing your focus to the glass shelving suspended between the ceiling and counter. It’s a stunning set of glass design elements that seem to hang in mid-air away from the structure of the bar’s wood features. If the wood and stone of this home bar are the skeleton and body, then the feature wall is certainly the jewelry.

A recurring theme in some of Peter Salerno’s best kitchen and bar designs is the used of reclaimed tin. From former bars and speakeasy joints to Route 66 gas stations, Peter sources tin from some of America’s most unique locations for use in his award-winning designs. In this case, reclaimed tin is treated and used in the center panels of the bar and cabinetry elements. Shades of brown, green and gold blend delicately against the woodwork and cabinet handles and finishing hardware.

As if the home bar design itself wasn’t enough, the stonework puts this pub over the top. With recessed sections that act as shelving for premier bottles of wine and liquor, this well-lit stone area also acts as a stairwell for a descending spiral metal staircase.

Cap all these stunning elements off with sturdy brown counters and smart lighting fixtures, and you have a winning ‘Eclectic Pub’ design indeed.

2020 Kitchen Design Trend | Custom White Cabinets

2020 Kitchen Design Trend | Custom White Cabinets

Simple, elegant and timeless – Custom white cabinets are a must-have kitchen design element heading into 2020. With their clean lines and “blank canvas” of color, white cabinets are the perfect backbone for your modern kitchen design. Whether you wish to keep your kitchen design simple or play with bolder elements, white cabinetry provides a reliable anchor for the rest of your kitchen.

We turned to the official Instagram of Peter Salerno Inc. for kitchen cabinet design inspiration. Since 2001, no North American custom kitchen design company has won more awards than Peter Salerno Inc. – for their ingenuity, their personal touches, and their expert craftsmanship. Peter Salerno and his team are renowned for their Maestro Rosolino line of custom cabinetry, and their Instagram features some elegant white cabinet design work.

Peter Salerno Inc.’s white cabinetry designs teach us that simplicity doesn’t have to be simple-minded. Clean lines and an expertly applied layer of white paint provide a delicate canvas upon which to make subtle, effective design choices. We love the interlocking mullions on the glass cabinet doors above – they create an eye-pleasing design while still allowing plenty of sight into the cabinets’ contents.

Obviously, white is a great option when playing with natural light and light fixtures. Adding recessed lighting into white, glass-door cabinets creates an elegant tone, as well as a glow that radiates throughout your kitchen. In a kitchen with plenty of windows and natural light, white cabinetry reflects sunlight (instead of absorbing it and dulling its effects).

Creative mullion design on white, glass-door cabinets is key to exceptional kitchen design in 2020. The flowers carved into the mullions above reflect the birth month of their owner, adding a personal touch to the cabinet design.

The floral white kitchen cabinets shown above sit on either side of a statement range and backsplash. The cabinets are backed by a gray & white subway tile design. As a result, the gray and metallic silver elements of the range, backsplash and subway tile are allowed to shine and ‘pop’, turning a simple color scheme into a dazzling kitchen feature wall.

White doors aren’t restricted to cabinets or glass in today’s modern luxury kitchen designs. Custom molded tin panels are flanked with white on the French doors of the refrigerator shown above, turning a simple appliance into a luxurious statement piece.

That is the beauty of designing kitchen cabinets and storage space with white doors and features – the rest of your design can go virtually anywhere!

Are you in love with white cabinets for 2020 kitchen design? How would you utilize them in your kitchen? We’d love to hear from you in the comments!

Reclaimed Tin + Swarovski Crystal Used in Beautiful Kitchen Design

Reclaimed Tin + Swarovski = Beautiful Kitchen Design

This beautiful kitchen in Colts Neck, New Jersey, received an amazing interior design makeover from Peter Salerno Inc. The makeover was due in large part to two items that at first glimpse have nothing to do with one another: reclaimed tin, and gorgeous Swarovski crystal.

But when these two design elements are combined in the hands of a master designer and craftsman like Peter Salerno, the results are extraordinary. Peter Salerno refinished the reclaimed tin and embedded it with the beautiful Swarovski crystals, and here are the results:

The article, “Bathing Beauties (Six bathtubs that make a splash)”, is a fantastic piece written by Brooke Perry for (201) Magazine. Inside the article lies a beautiful spread of bathroom design photos taken by renowned photographer Peter Rymwid, showcasing this exquisite custom Peter Salerno Inc. bath design.

Included in this design is a stunning feature made from reclaimed tin – rumored to have been owned by Al Capone himself! The tin was reclaimed from a Chicago site that was once a speakeasy, which adds even more validity to the claim. The rumored backstory of Al Capone owning the tin that now finds its home in this stunning bath design only adds to its mystique, luxury and charm.

The outstanding tile design in this bathroom was imagined by Marissa DePiero of Stratta, The Tile Boutique. Other notable features in this 2016 Peter Salerno Inc. custom bath design include the porcelain tile floor which mimics wood plank, a walk-in shower and the tub itself (a true centerpiece of the design).

But don’t take our word for it! Pick up a copy of (201) Magazine’s Home Issue today and see for yourself why this design is truly a “Bathing Beauty”.
