Using Swarovski Crystal in Modern Kitchen Design [PHOTOS]

Using Swarovski Crystal in Modern Kitchen Design [PHOTOS]

We’ll be right back the second we stop drooling. It might take awhile.  In the meantime, look at how gorgeous this Swarovski crystal design is on a new kitchen ceiling soffit.

You see why we’re gushing, right? This stunning blue and clear Swarovski crystal pattern lays dramatically on a tin ceiling soffit design by Peter Salerno Inc. – our parent company, and the most award-winning North American kitchen design firm of the 21st century.

The gorgeous color combination sparkles beautifully against the silver backdrop, adding a sense of extravagant luxury to what many consider “just another kitchen design element”. For far too long, kitchen soffits have been seen as something to be hidden, a “necessary evil”. Peter Salerno and his team have once again turned the ordinary into the extraordinary, combining form and function to turn a soffit into a masterpiece.

It’s just another example of how a master kitchen designer can help you upgrade from a statement kitchen to an award-winning showstopper.

“Add a mink wrap for the walls,” one Instagram user gushed in tongue-in-cheek style, noting the opulence of the crystal design. Nothing was overlooked in this Peter Salerno Inc. Swarovski soffit design. Large crystals were crushed into smaller pieces and set between the floral crystal design elements, causing light to reflect and sparkle off nearly every square inch of the soffit design.

And why not go for that “wow factor” in your dream kitchen design? It’s your home, after all; if the kitchen is your gathering place for friends, family and loved ones, it ought to be the centerpiece of your whole home design!

The truth is, kitchen ceiling soffits can be the crown on your kitchen design masterpiece! In the past, soffits were strictly created to hide wiring and cover the underside of surfaces, without much thought to ‘curb appeal’ or aesthetic value. Today’s smartest designers (like Peter Salerno Inc.) understand that every square inch of design space is an opportunity to add on to a masterpiece.

Perhaps Swarovski crystal doesn’t fit your personal aesthetic, and that’s fine! The point here has nothing to do with specific design materials and everything to do with thinking about kitchen design in fresh, innovative ways. Soffits don’t have to be hidden; sometimes, the only difference between mundane and masterful is expert approach and vision. Consulting with an expert kitchen designer or kitchen design firm might be the difference between ‘a very nice kitchen’ and a magnificent space for you and your loved ones to enjoy for decades.

Watch a Luxury Kitchen Design Construction Process

Watch a Luxury Kitchen Design Construction Process

Going behind the scenes of a luxury kitchen design construction process is beautiful and rewarding. The team at Peter Salerno Inc. (the most award-winning custom kitchen and bath design firm of the 21st century in North America) recently gave its Instagram followers a sneak peek at a stunning kitchen design that’s still a ‘work in progress’.

The first detail that jumped out at us were the gorgeous, handcrafted twin kitchen islands. Finished in a elegant blue-gray and adorned with hand-carved corner features, these islands will certainly serve as the centerpiece of the kitchen. We also get a sneak peek at the construction of a magnificent soffit above the islands (a Peter Salerno Inc. trademark), and we can’t wait to see how it turns out!

The sheer amount of windows and glass features in this kitchen design is striking; even mid-construction, the amount of natural light cascading into the space is unreal. Utilizing glass doors on the custom Maestro Rosolino cabinetry ensures that daylight will reflect throughout the space, keeping the need for daytime lighting to a minimum.

For Peter Salerno and his team, attention to detail is everything. From the extra cost to properly paper and protect the new flooring to small protective measures, every square inch of this kitchen is treated like gold during the construction process. And if you look closely, you’ll notice a personal touch – the top of each glass panel on every perimeter cabinet is hand-decorated with a carving of flowers. Each unique flower represents the birthday month of a member of the client’s household.

A unique design and construction element of this kitchen is the butler’s pantry, which isn’t ‘tucked away’ like many others. Rather, the butler’s pantry sits quaintly down a short hallway, removed from the kitchen but still within plain view of its occupants. The butler’s pantry hallway is adjacent to the range and hood, making food preparation and finishing details simple and effective.

Function is equally as important to form, and this Peter Salerno kitchen respects that fact. In addition to the abundance of cabinet fixtures, shelving space exists throughout the kitchen design (including a copious amount in the butler’s pantry). The breadth and depth of the cabinets and shelving ensure that nothing is out of reach for this kitchen’s owners.

Making a luxurious design space as functional as it is beautiful is key. It’s what makes this large kitchen seem cozy, and will allow cooks and other food preparers to easily and efficiently share their creations with family, friends and loved ones. After all, the true measure of a great kitchen is how inviting it is for its users and guests!

2019’s Most Beautiful Kitchen Ceiling Soffit Designs

2019’s Most Beautiful Kitchen Ceiling Soffit Designs

“Soffits are boxy. Soffits are meant to be functional, not fashionable.” We’ve heard it all before. And none of it is true.

“When our clients say go bigger,” Peter Salerno recently remarked on Instagram, “we go sky high!”

Making your kitchen soffits dazzle takes a bit of ingenuity, vision and daring. But when executed properly, soffits can go from simple to showpieces and elevate the luxury of your kitchen.

Let’s take a look at some of our favorite kitchen ceiling soffits of 2019 and talk about why we love them!

Awesome Kitchen Soffit Ideas + Designs

1. Swarovski Crystal, Reclaimed Tin + Statement Lighting

“The cherry on top of an amazing kitchen” is how Peter Salerno describes this soffit. This hexagonal soffit is framed with white and glitters with thousands of Swarovski crystals. Recessed lighting inside the ceiling feature and twin crystal chandeliers create a dazzling sparkle, turning this kitchen soffit into the centerpiece of the design.

2. Dark Wood Border + Large Pendant Lighting

One of Peter Salerno Inc.’s favorite locations for a statement kitchen soffit is over the kitchen island. The intricate craftsmanship on the dark-stained wood border is a visual tie-in to the custom range hood on the far wall. Once again, recessed lighting accents the tin ceiling panels in the soffit. The piece is finished off with large, bold pendant lighting that illuminates the entire kitchen design.

3. Sleek + Simple Brushed Tin Ceiling Soffit

Evocative of classic “drop tin ceilings”, this simple and elegant soffit features a square of 9 brushed tin ‘panels’, bordered by a beautiful scalloped design. Clean white wood borders the feature, with two understated lighting pieces hanging like bubbles underneath the tin.
